Your Itinerary
Day 1
Transfer at 8am from Voss to base at Gudvangen, or meet directly at the base at 9am, where you will be welcomed and given a tour introduction by your guide. Then we head out for a 16-18 km hike with elevation gain of up to 1200 meters. Unneeded items can be transported up to the mountain cabin (but will need to be carried on day 2). For June to Mid-July there may still be snow patches in the upper part of the hike. Overnight stay in a mountain cabin.
Day 2
After breakfast at the cabin, we get back on the trail mid morning and continue up into the highlands surrounding the Nærøyfjord. It’s a 11-16 km long hike depending on trail selection with elevation gain of around 500 meters. The trail is sometimes stony, and we may need to cross streams. We arrive at our tree camp late afternoon/early evening. Overnight stay in Tentsile tents suspended from trees.
Day 3
After a lie-in and breakfast at the tree camp, we have a a relative easy hike of 9-10 km with around 800 meters elevation drop, with a steep descend in the last hour. Ford side camping and great swimming options. Take an evening stroll around the picturesque village of Fresvik. There will be access to power this evening for recharging batteries. Camping.
Day 4
After breakfast at Fresvik, we pack our kayaks and have a technical and safety briefing before we launch. Our Kayak journey today covers around 22 km and takes us through 3 fjords: the main Sognefjord, The Aurlandsfjord and finally into the Nærøyfjord. There is a lunch stop enroute. Fjordside camping.
Day 5
Breakfast at camp before breaking down camp and packing our kayaks again. We get on the water mid-morning and venture into the innermost part of the Nærøyfjord, with towering mountains on both sides. Our paddle is 12-13 kilometers with 1 or 2 stops enroute to our final destination in Gudvangen where we expect to arrive mid-afternoon. Once there, there’s time to relax and repack your things.
